Vidic wants a'new challenge'

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic says he is joining Inter Milan in the summer because he needs a new challenge.

Vidic joined the Red Devils in 2006 from Spartak Moscow for a fee of around £7million, going on to earn the captain's armband in the 2010-11 season.

The 32-year-old confirmed earlier in the campaign that he would not be entering talks with the Premier League champions over a new deal and he would instead be seeking a new club at the end of the term.

Italian giants Inter moved quickly to secure the former Serbia international and Vidic insists that he had to find a new club in order to try and take on a new challenge.

Vidic said: "At times you need to accept that fact that it's time for a change.
"It's time to fight for new targets and to face new challenges, that it what I want to do in Italy."
